About Lyme Disease
Patients with Lyme disease are found in over 80 countries and the number of new infections is growing 25% annually. In the US, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that 478 000 Americans were infected in 2020. In Canda, there was 2.7 cases per 100,000 population in 2016.
A challenging Diagnosis
It seems more than 50% of the patients tested for Lyme disease generated a false negative result. A potential cause for such results could be the lack of consideration for the multiple co-infections (50+) related to the current diagnostic tests for LD. Indeed, these tests only frame the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi, which seems to become undetectable a few weeks after the initial infection.
